About 400 people turned out for the opening of the 10th annual WOOD A Furniture Show X at the Escondido Art’s Partnership—which will be there for the next month at the Escondido Municipal Gallery, 262 East Grand Ave, Escondido.
Organizer and veteran woodworker Brian Murphy, chairman of the show, expects perhaps another 3,500 plus to visit in the next 25 days, which could provide a boost for downtown businesses along Grand Avenue. That’s very much Murphy’s intent. He sees the show as a partnership between the arts and business communities. He owns Murphy’s Fine Woodworking, which fdoes custom-built furniture, largely in the Arts and Crafts style.
Murphy, who is a founding member of San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association, founded the show to showcase the high quality of woodwork done in Southern California.
The show features pieces of handcrafted furniture including contemporary, traditional, art furniture, as well as veneering and marquetry.
