A 27-year old Escondido woman who was severely injured Friday morning in a fight with her brother—who was later arrested for attempted homicide—died Tuesday night at the hospital where she had been taken after the fight.

Friday, the 18th, at about 12:45 a.m., the Escondido Police and Fire departments were dispatched to the 100 Block of E. 15th Avenue regarding a woman needing medical attention.

Upon arrival the woman, identified as 27-year-old Laura Elizabeth Bautista, was unresponsive to police and fire personnel. EFD personnel transported Laura Bautista to Palomar Medical Center. Her brother, 25-year-old Jose Enrique Bautista, was detained at the location by police. Initial information indicated Jose and Laura had been involved in a physical altercation stemming from a family argument.

EPD Detectives and the Forensic Services Unit responded to investigate the incident. As a result of the investigation, probable cause was developed to arrest Jose Enrique Bautista for attempted homicide.

Jan 25/Update: Jose Enrique Bautista, 25, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of his sister, Laura Bautista, 27. If convicted he could face 25 years to life in prison.

My heart goes out to this neighborhood family, I am in shock. What would cause this brother to beat his sister to death?

    Prayers to this family ~

    • He didn’t beat her to death they were drunk, and at least that wasn’t your aunt or uncle so I wouldn’t be talking and tomorrow is her birthday you know how that is for me and I’m only 10 years old😭

Ever wonder why our crime stories resemble the menu at Alberto’s? Do we get rice or beans with our crime?
