The Times-Advocate invites letters on subjects of general local interest from our readers.
We try to limit letters to about 400 words and emphasize that short letters make the best read. Please, please, please no handwritten letters, or, if you must, please attempt to print legibly.
Please don’t tell us why you are suing your neighbor and if you are mentioning someone by name, please observe rules of civility. We encourage reasoned, polite discourse and discourage name-calling. If you would be ashamed for your mother to read your letter, maybe you shouldn’t submit it to us. That being said, we generally like lively letters on topics of the day and don’t shy away from controversy.
No more than one letter per household per week, and no more than two letters from the same household during a four- week period. We don’t print anonymous letters under any circumstances. If you want to be taken seriously as a letter writer, sign your name.
