Vehicle vs Motorcycle Fatality

On March 12, 2018 at about 06:44 AM officers from the Escondido Police Department were dispatched to Rose Street just south of El Norte Parkway regarding a collision involving a vehicle versus motorcycle. EPD officers and Escondido Fire paramedics arrived on scene minutes later.
Based on witness statements and physical evidence at the scene, the following occurred. The motorcyclist, a 47-year-old male resident of Escondido, was traveling north on Rose Street. The motorcyclist came upon a trash truck also north bound on Rose Street. The motorcyclist attempted to pass to the right between a parked pickup truck and the trash truck when the collision occurred.
The motorcyclist was transported to Palomar Medical C enter where he died from his injuries. The driver of the trash truck was not injured. Alcohol or drugs are not a factor in this collision.
The traffic investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Officer Mike Nelson of the Traffic Division. Witnesses are encouraged to call Officer Nelson at the above phone number.
