Join the Valley Center Trails Association for a moderate to strenuous 7 mile hike in the Daley Ranch Saturday, January 12, at 8 a.m.
They will start on the Caballo trail and make their way up to Stanley Peak – the highest point in the Daley Ranch at 1983 feet. They will travel through chaparral and past high meadows. At the top are lovely views of Valley Center and Palomar Mountain. This out and back hike ascends 1,400 ft and has 1 ½ miles of continuous uphill at the start. Allow 3 1/2 hours for the hike.
Bring plenty of water, sun protection and wear sturdy boots or hiking shoes. Walking sticks are highly recommended. There is little to no shade on the trail.
Everyone is welcome and no pre-registration is required.
Directions to meeting place:
Meet at Caballo Trailhead (next to SD Humane Society – Escondido Campus 3450 E Valley Parkway, Escondido.) Allow 10 minutes from the VC Community Center. Take Valley Center Road toward Escondido. Go down the grade. Make a Right onto Beven Drive and turn Right onto Save a Life Way. Park in dirt lot just to left of animal shelter.
Heavy rain during 24 hours before hike or steady rain one hour in advance of start time cancels hike. Cancellation will be posted on VCTA FaceBook page
