Trump Wins Again

A group calling themselves “New Way California Republicans” recently released a plan to build a new Republican coalition in California by attracting moderates and independents. Their message for California Republicans? “You don’t have to be like President Trump.”

Presumably that means you just have to be more pragmatic, like John Kasich (who captured less than 6% of the total Republican primary delegates in the 2016 Presidential race). Or more conciliatory, like former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who tanked the most popular NBC reality show in history when he replaced Donald Trump as the boss on “The Apprentice.” Maybe you can be like the Mayor of San Diego, who has presided over an explosion of homelessness, an epidemic of hepatitis, and failed to pass a ballot measure to fix potholes, to build a much needed convention center addition, or to build a new stadium to retain the San Diego NFL franchise.

In a meeting facility capable of hosting nearly 1000 people, the New Way confab drew a crowd of less than 100. Apparently Kevin Faulconer, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Trump haters Bill Kristol and Ohio Governor John Kasich weren’t discouraged by the nearly nonexistent attendance at their heavily promoted “New Way” roll-out party.

Lost in a fog of personal hatred for our President, they can’t see the forest for the trees. The recipe for attracting more voters sits at a desk in the Oval Office. Trump didn’t get there by hacking voting machines or influencing voters with social media bots provided by Russians. He got there by reflecting the mood of the electorate, and polls show most Republicans think he has his priorities right.

A recent survey at the Conservative Political Action Conference gave Trump a 98% approval rating. Is that biased? Of course, but the poll illustrates Trump’s steadfast conservatism, despite having to go against a headwind of psychopathic Progressive whiners who can’t get over Hillary’s repudiation. And a noisy contingent of recalcitrant Neocons who hate the idea that a strongly pro-Israel, anti-abortion, “America First” president has snatched away their aristocratic throne.

In just under 28 months, the “New” Republican administration has:

Shut down the world-wide threat of ISIS

Restored America’s preeminence in world diplomacy

Opened dialogue with North Korea

Restored a flatlined economy

Raised employment to all-time highs

Reduced dependence on welfare and food stamps

Moved the US Embassy to Jerusalem

Made America energy independent

Balanced some very unfair international trade agreements

Balanced the Supreme Court

Created thousands of domestic manufacturing jobs

Increased middle class paychecks with a broad tax cut

During the New Way California Republicans roll-out party, the same clowns that have all but handed the Golden State over to 60’s era leftist radicals, were pontificating about how voters like me, “the crazies” as John McCain described us, need to reject Trump, and embrace compassionate conservatism.

I got news for you guys! That ship has sailed sunk!

“It’s important for the country to have healthy political parties if possible,” said Kristol. “Maybe we’ll have to go beyond the two-party system. I’m open to that.”

Is Kristol suggesting that the Republican party is unhealthy because, with no help from California, it put Trump in the White House? So the anti-Trump faction wants to reinvent the whole party. They have obviously bought the media characterization that Trump and his supporters are sticking with him because they are all white supremacists.

In the meantime, President Trump stands tall and resolute that American interests should come first. He figured out what voters wanted and doing it the old-fashioned way, he won the election.

California Republicans need to stop pointing fingers and running away from the team’s best player. Republicans need to keep our eyes on what works, focus on core value issues and get our uniforms dirty. Being preoccupied with form at the cost of function is not going to get the job done.

The left has selective amnesia. “Forget everything that came before us, they were all wrong! This generation will get everything right! Of course that means starting all over…”

While the Democrats conduct an all-out assault on our constitutional republic with wild ideas like lowering the voting age, opening our borders, expanding the Supreme Court and eliminating the electoral college, the “New Way” folks would embrace new world order policies like appeasing Islamic fundamentalism, nationalizing healthcare, and ignoring sanctuary cities and border enforcement laws.

That sounds like traditional liberalism. Maybe Schwarzenegger, Kasich, Kristol and friends should be reinventing the Democratic Party instead. But that is a subject to revisit after Trump wins again in 2020.

I think this is “right on” and needs to be read by as many people as possible. Mr. Elkin not only describes the left appropriately, he crystallizes the conservative view point to a “T”.

Wow! Clear, correct and convincing. I’ll support this guy!
