Mayor Sam Abed will meet his constituents on Wednesday, May 17, 4 p.m. when the city hosts its next Town Hall meeting.
Such meetings give residents an opportunity to express their opinions and discuss their concerns in a less formal environment than regular council meetings.
Holding regular town hall meetings was one of the mayor’s campaign promises and he has so far held 12 of them. This will be his 13th.
The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 201 N. Broadway. The meeting format will start with a brief city update, followed by an open question and answer period on any topic relating to local government.
Mayor Abed wrote in his weekly column this week: “This is your opportunity to share your views on the issues facing our community and to discuss any subject that matters to you or your business. Our staff will follow up on issues not addressed during the meeting.”
The meeting will also be videotaped and rebroadcast the following Sunday and Monday evening at 6 p.m. on Cox. Ch.19 and AT&T U-Verse Ch. 99.
Mayor Abed added, “I encourage you to attend and participate in the discussion, or even just say hello and introduce yourself. Working together we will make Escondido a better city.”
