Home Firearm Safety/ Basic Handgun Class

A monthly three-hour familiarization and safety class is offered for anyone anticipating the purchase of, or who already own, a handgun.

The class is offered Sunday, April 15, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Escondido Fish and Game Association shooting range east of Lake Wohlford. Participants learn the basics of handguns, home firearm safety and responsibility of firearm ownership. Handguns and ammunition are provided for the class, but participants are encouraged to bring their own handgun if they already own one.

The Escondido Fish and Game Association range is located at 16525 Guejito Road and Lake Wohlford Road. Cost for the class is $60. To register call Jack at 760-746-2868.

Day of Prayer

Campus Creatives: From the Classroom to the Museum 

This exhibition features 47 local visual art department faculty members teaching at the college level in fourteen San Diego County institutions. These artists will be presenting newer works in a wide variety of media and subject, in the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, Center Museum, from April 7 until May 13. This juried exhibition will underscore the talents of these respected artists and highlight our County’s strength in art education, giving the public a chance to see how they practice what they teach and influence the art world beyond their classrooms.

Admission to the Museum is $8 for Adults, Seniors and Students $5, Center members, Military and children under 12 are free.

Adult Ed Enrollment Opens

Enrollment is now open at all six adult schools in the Education to Career Network of North San Diego County (ETCN) including Escondido, Poway, Ramona, San Marcos, Vista and Palomar College.

Each school offers a variety of exciting classes and programs in in-demand industries including healthcare, automotive technology, culinary, communications and information technology, business and more at little or no fee.  Residents can also earn a high school diploma/GED or improve their English language skills in our English as a Second Language (ESL) courses– all free of charge.

Students can take one class, earn an industry certificate, or prepare for college and beyond. Day, evening, weekend and online classes are available to accommodate working adults.

Calvin Christian School to host biennial Dutch Festival 

The “Dutch Festival will be held Saturday, April 21, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at Calvin Christian School.

The school will host a day of fun for the whole community.   The festival includes carnival games and prizes, shopping, auctions, petting zoos, obstacle courses, and a whole lot more in a celebration honoring the Dutch heritage of Calvin Christian School.

The Dutch Festival is a fun-filled day for all ages from preschoolers to High School seniors, to senior citizens.  Admission is free, and all are welcome to come enjoy the food, shopping, fun and games that all take place over several acres of the Calvin Christian High School campus.
