Bilingual Book Club
Rincón Literario (The Literary Corner), Escondido Public Library’s Bilingual Book Discussion Group, will meet on Saturday, September 23 from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. in the Turrentine Room. This month’s selection is “La niña alemana/The German Girl” by Armando Lucas Correa. Copies are available for check-out in English and Spanish, and in a variety of formats, including print and eBook, and can be reserved at library.escondido.org.
Journalist Armando Lucas Correa’s debut novel is a beautiful and poignant story about Hannah Rosenthal, a twelve-year-old girl living in Nazi Germany. Hannah is forced to flee her once so comfortable life by boarding a transatlantic ocean liner. What initially seems like a pleasant cruise turns dark as the safety of the Jewish refugees is threatened once again.
Rincón Literario will continue on Saturday, October 21, discussing “Un monstruo viene a verme/A Monster Calls” by Patrick Ness. Rincón Literario is made possible by support from Friends of the Escondido Public Library.
All Library programs are free and open to the public. For more information about future Rincón Literario selections and other Library programs, visit library.escondido.org or contact Librarian Cecy Rayphole at 760-839-4289 or at email@example.com.
