Saturday, June 17, 10 a.m.–7 p.m. will be Escondido Day at the Del Mar fairgrounds. Visit the Escondido Chamber of Commerce Table. Each year, the Del Mar fair offers booths for a day to the not for profits in San Diego. The Chamber is sharing the booth with the Escondido Alzheimer’s walk coordinators.

Escondido Writers Group 

Escondido Writers Group meets monthly at Escondido Public Library. The next meeting is  Tuesday, July 11, from 1– 4 p.m. in the Turrentine Room.

For this time only, the meeting will take place on the second Tuesday of the month due to the Independence Day holiday. Writers of all genres are invited to join the Escondido Writers Group for an opportunity to improve their writing by participating in monthly readings and group critiques. Meet other writers and published authors, and learn from one another in a supportive environment. Participants are encouraged to bring samples of their current writing projects to share and receive constructive feedback.

Illusions: Abstract and Surrealism at Escondido Arts Partnership

June 16,  11 a.m. – 4 p.m. a reception will be held for the exhibit “Illusions: Abstract and Surrealism” at Escondido Arts Partnership Municipal Gallery located at 262 E. Grand Ave.

The next time to see the exhibit is June 23, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Let your unconscious be your guide when viewing the illusory and  dreamlike artworks in the “Illusions: Abstract and Surrealism” exhibition at the Escondido Municipal Gallery, juried by Maura Walters. Color abounds in the InnerSpace Gallery with PhotoArts Group’s It’s a Colorful Life. In the Expressions Gallery  EAP Studio artist Elizabeth Lutz asks us  to reflect on sets of words in her solo exhibition Change with Integrity.

The exhibit runs June 9 through July 1.

Symphony in the Park 

The next Symphony in the Park Series will be held June 18, 5-6 p.m. at Grape Day Park, 321 N. Broadway.

The Palomar Symphony Orchestra a free program entitled: “MOVIE NIGHT OUT,” with favorites from “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “Star Wars,” “The King’s Speech” and James Bond 007 movies.

Improv Show

An Improv Show will play at the Patio Playhouse, June 18, 7– 8 p.m. 116 S Kalmia St. See a night full of improvisational comedy at the Patio Playhouse Theater in Escondido.

Improvs are performed every Sunday night at 7 p.m. from June 4-25, tickets cost $5.

Have you ever wanted to see your greatest stories, craziest memories, or even a word you thought of turned into a completely improvised show? Join the group as they invite musicians, writers, artists, and most importantly an audience to provide inspiration for a family friendly, long-form improv show. The Serious Artist Collective Troupe is made up of serious college artists that demand you take their art seriously. Split into two acts with a total run time of 1.5 hours, the show will surely be one you won’t want to miss!

Tuesday Downtown Certified Farmers Market

The next Tuesday Downtown Certified Farmers Market will be held June 20, 2:30 p.m. at  Heritage Garden Park at Juniper & Grand Avenue.

Times are 2:30p.m. to 6 p.m. – October through May

2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. – June through September

Enjoy fresh local produce, flowers, herbs, succulents and fantastic hot foods, as well as crafts, clothes, music, and fun!

Queen Califia’s Magical Circle 

Queen Califia’s Magical Circle will be open at Kit Carson Park June 22,  9 a.m.–noon.

Queen Califia’s Magical Circle is now open to the public weekly, with free entrance, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon AND on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.

Docents will be on hand for questions on 2nd Saturday dates.  Kids of ALL ages love this park… bring your family, friends, imaginations and cameras!

“Furs, Tails, Feathers, Scales” Exhibit at Distinction Gallery

“Furs, Tails, Feathers, Scales” exhibit will be at Distinction Gallery, June 24, noon – 5 p.m.

Distinction Gallery / ArtHatch are located 317 E Grand Ave.

The exhibition will run from June 10 through July 1.

ArtHatch and Distinction Gallery present a Studio Artists Exhibition featuring the collective art of their very own in-house ArtHatch Studio Artists. Highlighting a wide range of work from original paintings, photography, and other mixed media, this exhibit is a representation of the broad spectrum of current local San Diego artists.

Over 30 emerging and accomplished artists present their artistic voices and inspirations in the spirit of “Animals” to give rise to a diverse and creative show. The Opening Reception with Live Music will be held on Saturday, June 10, 6-10 p.m. Studio artists within the ArtHatch building will have their studios open to the public as well.

Movies in the Park will present: “Sing” June 24, 7 – 10 p.m. at Grape Day Park 321 N. Broadway.
