Chamber “Know How” rescheduled

The Escondido Chamber of Commerce’s “Chamber Know How” workshop, which had been scheduled for September 12, has been rescheduled to Monday, October 3, noon–1 p.m. at the Chamber office, 720 N Broadway, Escondido

Do you know how to keep your computer safe from viruses? When was the last time your computer had a “health check-up.” Bring your questions for Bill Durney with Rancho Computer Networks, who is this month’s guest speaker.

ECCHO to update homeowners

ECCHO will be holding a community meeting on Tuesday, September 20, 5:30 p.m. at the Life Church, 1001 West Country Club Lane, Escondido.

Among the topics of discussion will be the latest proposal by New Urban West, Inc., which is for 392 houses.

ECHHO is advising homeowners to write letters to the Escondido City Council, to express their thoughts about the density that NUWI is proposing.

Town Hall Meeting September 21

Escondido Mayor Sam Abed will hold a Town Hall meeting on Wednesday,

September 21, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 201 N. Broadway. Following a brief update by the Mayor, residents will have an opportunity to ask questions or share their thoughts on any topic relating to city government. The event is free and no reservations are required.

The meeting will be videotaped and rebroadcast the following Sunday and Monday evening at 6 p.m. on Cox. Ch. 19 and AT&T U-Verse Ch. 99

This is the twelfth town hall meeting Mayor Abed has held since his election as Mayor.

Chamber to sponsor candidate forum Oct.6

The Escondido Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a candidate forum for city council and the Board of Supervisors Thursday, October 6, 7:15 a.m.–9:30 a.m. at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.

The candidates for Council District #3, including incumbent Olga Diaz and challenger Joe Garcia; for Council District #4 incumbent Michael Morasco is faced by challenger Ingrid Rainey.

Also appearing will be Kristin Gaspar, candidate for the Third Supervisorial District.

The forum will be hosted by the Escondido Chamber of Commerce

Government Affairs Committee with moderator Kevin S. Svetich, CLU.

Escondido Writers Group Meets at Library

Escondido Writers Group meets at the Escondido Public Library on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 1– 3 p.m. in the Turrentine Room. Writers of fiction, non-fiction, and memoirs are all invited to join the Escondido Writers Group for an opportunity to improve their writing by participating in monthly readings and group critiques. Participants are encouraged to bring samples of their current writing projects to share and receive constructive feedback. Pre-registration is required at library.escondido.org/register.

TERC to host local candidates

The Escondido Republican Club (TERC) is providing an opportunity at their Monday, September 19th, lunchtime meeting, for community members to meet several candidates whose names will be on the ballot for the General Election on November 8.

. Escondido City Council – District #3, Joe Garcia;
. Escondido City Treasurer – Robroy Fawcett and Douglas Shultz;
. Escondido Union High School District – Trustee Area #4 – Dane White;
. Escondido Union Elementary District – Region #1 – Giovanny Miranda and Region #4 – Mirek Gorny
. Palomar Community College – Governing Board Member – Tim Fillinger
. Palomar Health Board Member – Dr. Doug Moir

The meeting will be held at the Cocina del Charro Restaurant located at 890 West Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92025. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. with the buffet luncheon service starting at 11:45 a.m. The meeting begins promptly at noon and concludes at 1 p.m.
