Chamber morning mixer Aug. 26

Good Morning Escondido August networking breakfast will meet Fri­day, August 26, 7:15 a.m. at a new lo­cation, Marie Callender’s 515 W 13th Ave., Escondido. Cost for members is $13 and $20 for non-members.

The breakfast is a great opportunity to make new contacts and build rela­tionships. Raffle prizes are welcomed.

Guest speaker will be Escondido’s new fire chief, Russ Knowles.

Chamber Challenge Golf Tournament

18th Annual Chamber Challenge Golf Tournament benefiting the Es­condido Police Athletic League will be held Friday, September 16 at the Vineyard Golf Club 925 San Pasqual Rd. Escondido.

The Escondido Police Athletic League is a non-profit organization that relies on educational and athletic activities to cement a bond between police officers and the youth in our community.

Chip in for Jim” to be held August 19

A fundraiser to help a local man af­flicted with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s dis­ease) will be held August 19 at Woods Valley Golf Course in Valley Center.

The 2nd annual “Chip in for Jim” golf tournament will benefit Jim Mc­Farland a longtime area resident. Last year’s fundraiser, which was also held in August, was successful, sold out in fact, and the organizers are hoping

 

 

to replicate that success.

Summer Sing

Singers are invited to join the Cen­ter Chorale for a fun Summer Sing at the California Center for Arts, Escon­dido Studio One Theater.

The Escondido Choral Arts Sum­mer Sing will be Monday, August 22, 7 p.m. Cost is $10 at the door.

Featured in the Sing will be Charles Villiers Stanford’s “Songs of the Fleet,” an unusual and charming work about sailing the high seas. Other beautiful choral works include com­positions by Giovanni Gabrieli, Gia­como Antonio Perti, and a new work by Stephen Sturk, resident composer and assistant conductor of the Center Chorale.
