Third annual event showcases horses

The Vaqueros 3rd Annual Day of the Horse is scheduled for February 13 (rain date March 5). Chaired by Deanne Sanderson and her volunteer committees handling the details, along with the Saturday work parties at the arena, the Day of the Horse will be a smooth presentation of all facets and varieties of horse breeds and their talents. Flyers are being posted around Valley Center and neighboring towns.

The Day of the Horse is a free composite of horse related demonstrations, vendors, entertainment, etc. to celebrate horses and the equine lifestyle. Beginning at 9 a.m. at the Vaqueros new Equine Park located in the Star Valley Park grounds, the gates will be open to everyone/anyone interested in the horse. Demonstrations will consist of training for various disciplines including Parelli bridles and liberty; driving; polo; trick training; reining; Spanish horsemanship; cowboy challenges etc.

Entertainment in the barn will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. Several local musicians sponsored by the NC & SD Bluegrass will play bluegrass music. All are welcome to this free entertainment. Emma’s Food Truck will be available, and parking spaces will be plentiful on the grounds.

The VC Vaqueros Equine Education Foundation hosts the day.
