TERC to meet Oct. 15

The Escondido Republican Club (TERC) will hold their monthly meeting at lunchtime on Monday, October 15, featuring guest speaker 75th District Assemblywoman Marie Waldron,who is currently serving as the Minority Floor Leader.

This informative meeting will be held at the Cocina del Charro Restaurant, 890 W. Valley Parkway, Escondido.  Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. with the lunch buffet service beginning at 11:45 a.m.  The meeting will begin promptly at noon and conclude at 1 p.m. The cost is $15 per person.  Payment by cash or check only. Holiday craft sale October 5

The Artisans of the First United Methodist Church will its 22nd Annual Holiday Craft Fair on Friday, October 5, (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and Saturday, October 6, (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), at 341 S. Kalmia St., Escondido.  They will have gift items for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and ever yday, as well as decorative and useful items for the home,  handcrafted in Escondido.  Don’t miss “Gramma’s Kitchen” with home-baked goodies, homemade  pickles, jams and peanut brittle.  There will be gift items for the whole family at great prices too.

Register to vote

The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 6 General Election is Monday, Oct. 22, and if you’ve recently moved or changed your name and want to vote, you need to complete a new registration form! If you’re not sure you’re registered, check your status online at sdvote.com.

The Registrar is sending thousands of courtesy postcards to two groups of county voters this week: mail ballot voters whose Postal Service records show they have moved but not re-registered, and mail ballot voters who had to vote provisionally in June, so they don’t have to do so again. Fall hike summit for stem cell 

A fall hike to raise funds for a Parkinson’s treatment to reach clinical trials will be held October 20, 9 a.m. Felicita Park, Escondido Registration includes brunch, t-shirt, and medal.

Fall Escondido Renaissance Faire

The Renaissance Fare will return to Escondido at Felicta Park  October 27 & 28 and November 3 & 4, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

This will be the 19th annual visit of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth Gloriana, to the Shire of Escondido. Get Fire Alarms Installed

The Escondido Fire Department Prevention Division, the American Red Cross, The Burn Institute and the Rincon Water District have partnered to provide and install Free smoke alarms in homes that need them. The next free Smoke Alarm installation event has been scheduled for the Escondido Views Mobile Home Park on Tuesday October 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Oct. 9 free event for North County Seniors

The Foundation for Senior Wellbeing invites North County seniors to participate in a free Senior Emergency Preparedness and Emergency Starter Kit Giveaway Event on Tuesday, October 9, 9—11 a.m. in the Panorama building: 131 Richmar Ave., San Marcos. 

This two-hour event will feature speakers from the San Marcos Fire Department and the Escondido Police Department. Participants will learn about types of emergencies, how to make their own plan and what communities are doing to prepare. 

The first 50 registered seniors who register and attend will receive a free emergency “go-bag” starter kit (funding for the kits provided by the San Marcos Community Foundation and the County of San Diego Districts 3 & 5 Community Enhancement Program).
