Quilters to Meet

El Camino Quilt Guild meets at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, February 13 at QLN Conference Center, 1938 Avenida Del Oro, Oceanside 92056.  Parking is limited, so carpool if you can. Doors open 9 a.m. Guest fee $10.

The speaker will be award-winning art quilter Linda Anderson. (laartquilts.com, who says everyone everywhere has a story. She is compelled and attracted to find that moment that captures the essence of the person and share it through the medium of fine art quilts, merging the two elements that are closest to her heart: drawing and sewing. Her lecture is entitled, “The Quilt Art of Storytelling”.

 There is no workshop.

Coffee With a cop

Community: Coffee with a Cop – Thursday January 23, 7-9 a.m., Starbucks at 1282 Auto Park Way. Join your neighbors and the Escondido Police Department to connect over coffee and a casual conversation about issues that matter most to you in your community.

Valentine Teas

The Sikes Adobe Historic Farmstead, 12655 Sunset Drive in Escondido, will hold its Valentine Teas on Saturday, February 8 and Sunday, February 9.  There will be two seating options per day-1 p.m. and 3 p.m.  The tea service will offer homemade sandwiches and sweets.  The cost is $15 per person and includes a tour of the Victorian home.  Seating is limited and reservations are suggested.  Buy tickets at Sikesadobe.org

Parkinson’s Support Group

The free Rancho Bernardo monthly meeting of the North County Parkinson’s Support Group will be from 10 a.m. until Noon on February 3 at San Rafael Church, 17252 Bernardo Center Dr. in the Parish Hall.  Vanessa Leschak, Certified Nutritionist and Cook will present “Healthier Lives for People with Parkinson’s through Diet, Nutrition and Education” during the first hour. Separate breakout sessions for People with Parkinson’s and care partners will follow the presentation to discuss successes and challenges. Refreshments will be served. Recreation and Youth Community Advisory Group

The City of Escondido Recreation and Youth Community Advisory Group will meet Monday, January 27, 6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Room in City Hall. 

District 1 (In-District Meeting)

The District 1 meeting will be held Tuesday, January 28, 6-7:30 p.m. at the PACC Auditorium. 

Planning Commission

The Escondido Planning Commission Meeting will be Tuesday, January 28, 7–9 p.m. at Council Chambers, city hall. 

Genealogy Expert to Speak

The San Diego Genealogical Society welcomes everyone interested in genealogy research to attend their monthly meetings where guest speakers talk about specific genealogy interests.  This month’s speaker is Kristi Sexton who will cover the following:

Session 1:  10 a.m.—Secret Societies – Not so Secret

Session 2:  11 a.m.—Walking through the Wiki
