Democratic Club to meet June 9
Join the Escondido Democratic Club at their June meeting to hear from Ellen Montanari, a leader of Flip the 49th and the organizer of the longest rally/protest in our county (outside of Rep. Issa’s office). She will discuss the results of the June 5 primary and will share tools and tips for getting Democratic candidates elected in November.

Music and Art Festival June 16-17 at Felicita park
WSOHOIDPS (A SHIP IN THE WOODS) nonprofit art and culture incubator will host its first annual music and art festival at Felicita County Park from Saturday, June 16 to Sunday, June 17. The festival will be a continuation of the nonprofit’s past programming, merging world-class talent with local San Diego artists.
Along with headliners Built To Spill, No Age, Bill Callahan (Smog), and Shabazz Palaces, the diverse lineup features Lonnie Holley, Willis Earl Beal, Treepeople, EMA, Drew McDowall (Coil, Psychic TV, Poems), Moon Dia-grams (Moses Archuleta of Deerhunter), Tara Jane O’Neil, Hiro Kone, Café Ale (Languis, Pharaohs, dublab), Ice Balloons (TV On The Radio, SAMIAM), Sun Foot, and local acts HEXA and Spooky Cigarette. Pall Jenkins (Black Heart Procession, Three Mile Pilot) with Lori Goldston will play the opening anthem.
General Admission and VIP pass options for this all-ages event are on sale now, and can be purchased through www.shipfest.org. VIP ticket holders will have full access to various amenities, a secluded space to relax, private DJ area, VIP bathroom, complimentary food and drink tickets, front-line access at the entrance, food and drink area and more. MAGEC in the Park coming to Kit Carson June 9
MAGEC (Museums & Arts Growing Escondido Culture), Visit Escondido, and Patio Playhouse Plays in the Park will present the inaugural MAGEC in the Park Family Event and Preview Show on Saturday, June 9 at the Kit Carson Park Amphitheater.
This family festival, running from 6:30 – 9 p.m. is designed to bring youth teams together to create cool art and showcase Escondido’s Arts and Culture, and is free to all participants.
Tickets: There is no cost to participate in the art contest or to attend this event, but a limited number of teams will be accepted for the contest. Team registration opens May 5th and is available to a limited number of teams. To enter, teams should select “MAGEC in the Park” at stoneandglass.com/book-a-class.

Home firearm safety/ basic handgun class offered
A monthly three hour familiarization and safety class is offered for anyone anticipating the purchase of, or who already own, a handgun.
The class is offered Sunday, June 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Escondido Fish and Game Association shooting range east of Lake Wohlford. Participants learn the basics of handguns, home firearm safety and responsibility of firearm ownership. Handguns and ammunition are provided for the class but participants are encouraged to bring their own handgun if they already own one.
The Escondido Fish and Game Association range is located at 16525 Guejito Road and Lake Wohlford Road. Cost is $60. To register for the class call Jack at 760-746-2868.
Boys and Girls Clubs will sponsor summer food service program
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego program will operate from the following Summer Food Service Program…
June 14 to August 24 at all San Diego locations.
June 6 to August 14 at Escondido locations.
June 15 to August 22 at the Valley Center location
All sites will be closed on July 4.
Free meals will be made available to all attending children under 19 years of age without regard to race, color, national origin, sex or disability. Also, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego offer a variety of daily youth development programs and activities.
