The Escondido Genealogy Society March 23 meeting will host a speaker on “All Things German”

This would be a perfect time to join the group to find many excellent sources to use to fill in those gaps on your German heritage.  This Saturday meeting starts at 10 a.m. at Park Ave Community Center, Maple Room, at the northeast corner of Broadway & Park in Escondido.

NORTH COUNTY QUILTERS’ ASSOCIATION NOVEMBER MEETING

North County Quilters’ Association’s next meeting features Guest Speaker Shirley McGuire, who will share “How to Do Wool Appliqué and Not Go Broke!” The meeting will be March 18 from 6:30– 8:30 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1087 W Country Club Ln., Escondido.  Doors open at 5:45 p.m.  Free parking is available on-site.  Free admission for first time guests.  Regular admission is $5/meeting or $30/annual membership.

The meeting will include the club’s White Elephant Boutique (open for shoppers at 5:45 p.m.), guild business updates, and lots of opportunities to bring home some special goodies: mini quilt raffle, block of the month raffle, fat quarters contest, door prizes.

DEMOCRATIC CLUB TO HEAR ABOUT CREEK CONSERVANCY

Join the Escondido Democratic Club on April 13 to hear from Kevin Barnard of the Escondido Creek Conservancy (TECC), who will give a brief history and overview of TECC and explain their land acquisition projects and grants for both the Reidy and Escondido Creeks. Barnard has been on the TECC board since 2006 and is a past president. He is retired from 30 years with the SDPD, and has been a resident of Harmony Grove since 1995.

9TH ANNUAL SAN DIEGO ADOBE HOME TOUR

The 9th Annual San Diego Adobe Home Tour – From Mission to Modern – will feature five Pauma Valley Homes (including four within the Country Club gates), St. Francis Episcopal Church and the Pala Mission.  The tour is on Sunday, March 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Tour tickets are available for $27 each at www.adobehometour.com.
