HOME FIREARM SAFETY/BASIC HANDGUN CLASS
A monthly 4-hour familiarization and safety class is offered for anyone anticipating the purchase of, or who already own, a handgun. The class will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, September 1, at the shooting range east of Lake Wohlford, 16525 Guejito Rd. Participants learn basics of handguns, home firearm safety and responsibility of firearm ownership. Handguns and ammunition are provided for those who do not own any but participants are encouraged to bring their own handgun and ammunition if they own one. Cost is $60. Register at 760-746-2868.

EDCO TO OBSERVE LABOR
In observance of the upcoming Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 2, 2019, EDCO will not be performing residential collection services and all buyback centers and customer service offices will be closed. As a result, collection will be delayed by one day all week following the holiday in Coronado, Encinitas, Escondido, Fallbrook, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, National City, Poway, Ramona, San Diego, San Marcos, Solana Beach, Valley Center, Vista and the unincorporated areas of San Diego County. This includes Fallbrook Waste & Recycling Services.
Waste and recycling collection services for commercial businesses will be unaffected by the holiday and will be provided on the regularly scheduled service day. EDCO’s public disposal sites will also remain open on Monday, September 2.

BIRD LOVERS CLUB
North County Aviculturists, a club for pet bird owners and breeders, welcomes SoCal Parrot’s Operation Manager, Sarah Mansfield, to talk about the group’s work. Our wild urban parrots are naturalized rather than feral. She will be bringing along Hilo, a Lilac-crowned Amazon, and Nene, a Red-masked Conure. Both were injured as babies and were therefore unable to be released. Refreshments will be served after the presentation. NCA is a ‘501(c)7 – Social and Recreation Clubs’ organization.

PARKINSON’S SUPPORT GROUP
The Rancho Bernardo monthly meeting of the North County Parkinson’s Support Group is from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, September 3 at San Rafael Church, 17252 Bernardo Center Drive in the Parish Hall. The Escondido Republican Club (TERC) will be holding its monthly lunchtime meeting on Monday, September 16, featuring guest speaker Tony Krvaric, Chairman of the San Diego County Republican Party.

NIGHT ON BROADWAY
Community Lutheran Church will have its annual Night on Broadway talent show this
Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Each show will be about 1 ½ hours long with an intermission.
Tickets cost $10 and are available online or at the door of each show. This year, each show is a bit different with different acts each day, plus some repeaters that you will want to see twice.
