Spotlight on business: Seven – A Signature Salon

Seven- A Signature Salon provides hair, nails and full body waxing.

You know when you walk in somewhere and you automatically feel like you are home? That is how Seven – A Signature Salon feels. From the employee checking you in for your salon service, to the stylist that is about to make you look and feel amazing, a sense of warmth comes over you as your experience begins.

This salon is different on so many levels and more importantly, people come first. Clients become family and friends and really, it is like Cheers in the fact that, “Everybody knows your name.” You feel special, individual and cared for during your salon experience and that is something you cannot get from a lot of walk-in establishments.

Tanya Christensen has 30 years of experience in the salon industry and is the owner of Seven- A Signature Salon located at 240 E. Grand Ave. in Escondido. Seven- A Signature Salon provides hair, nails and full body waxing. From precision haircuts to custom color, their team uses high-end products and offers a myriad of exceptional services. With the salon’s nail services, they have you covered from fingernail to toes, acrylic, gel enhancements and their full line of nail services. Do you have a special occasion coming up? At Seven A Signature Salon, they specialize in weddings, special occasion hair and makeup.

Stylist Danny Zapien has been in this industry for over 15 years and says that, “Work feels like home because my fellow stylists feel like my family and my clients are my friends.”

Seven-A Signature Salon has been in business in Escondido for 12 years. When Christensen was asked what her salon’s motto would be, she responded, “  ‘Every client is our guest.’ We want to treat our clients like they are staying at a hotel. We are involved in our client’s lives and want to hear about the good things, celebrations, struggles and really be there for our clients.”

I asked Christensen how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the salon? “Our community is amazing,” she said. “We were able to get one of the City of Escondido grants that they were giving out. That helped us pay for a month’s worth of rent. The community and our staff have really come together. We opened in 2008 when the economy crashed, and this is been a much harder experience.”

Christensen really wants to express that her salon and stylists go above and beyond regarding safety procedures on a regular basis. Whether it is during the pandemic or during more normal times, she wants her clients to feel safe and protected. She said, “Above everything, we are fighters and we will get past this. The year 2021 will look different for salons, but I am blessed to work with such great people. We will adapt to these changes and move forward.”
