Some local charities worthy of your attention this year

By DAVID ROSS

You may not ever have heard of Giving Tuesday (and I admit to never having heard of it before this week, when suddenly it was everywhere I looked so that I couldn’t ignore it) some of the causes that have been highlighted during the day after Cyber Monday are very much worthy of your attention as December 31 rolls closer and you look for places to donate to so you can deduct them for the 2017 tax year.

If you missed Giving Tuesday, here are a few local causes to consider.

Alternatives Women’s Center

Alternative’s team of medical professionals are specifically trained to provide medical care to confirm pregnancy diagnosis including confirmation of viability. We provide evidence-based medical education that will empower you and enable you with confidence to make choices concerning your unique situation. We inform…you decide.

 Assistance League

During 2017, we provided new school clothing and shoes helping over 1800 children K-12 feel more confident and successful. We also awarded $110,000 in scholarships to high school graduates and college students in training programs for nursing and EMT. In addition, we gave comfort to children and seniors in crisis situations with our Philanthropic Programs. The giving season begins November 28 and goes through December 31. Please consider a special donation to Assistance League of Inland North County.
