Jim Sammons, a leader in the sport of kayak ocean fishing, will be presenting at the September 9 meeting of the Senior Anglers of Escondido.
Sammons, of La Jolla Fishing Adventures, guides enthusiasts to catch the usual inshore species, but also Dorado, Marlin, Thresher Shark, and Rooster Fish. Sammons has taught kayak-fishing classes throughout the world, and has appeared on numerous outdoor TV shows. In 2008, Simmons set the state’s kayak fishing record of a 60-pound Dorado.
Members will also have an opportunity to sign up for an upcoming guided fishing trip on Coronado’s Glorieta Bay with Sammons.
Senior Anglers of Escondido is open to all anglers age 50 and above, with meetings held the second Friday of each month, at the Park Avenue Community Center, 210 Park Ave. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., meetings start at 9:30 a.m.
Members of the club enjoy local freshwater fishing, summer saltwater charters, RV camping, and community service to help kids go fishing. senioranglersofescondido.net/
