Rotary club barbecue to honor military, first responders

The Orange Glen High School ROTC will present the colors at the Annual Escondido East Rotary Club Deep Pit BBQ this Saturday, May 12.

The Escondido East Rotary Club Annual Deep Pit BBQ will take place this Saturday, May 12 and will honor Active and Retired Military and Police and Fire Department personnel. The event is held at the Kit Carson Park El Arroyo Picnic Area and the public is welcome to attend.
Escondido East will be giving special recognition to Escondido Police Chief Craig Carter, Escondido Fire Chief Rick Vogt and military veteran Shawn Ryan. The barbecue runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with food, games, and entertainment by the live band Calico Ridge. There will also be a silent auction and raffle.
The presentation of colors will be provided by the Orange Glen High School ROTC and the Escondido Police Department K-9 unit will be putting on a demonstration at 12:45 pm.
Active duty military, on-duty Escondido police and fire personnel and their families eat for free. Military, police and fire veterans tickets are $15 each and general public adult tickets are $20. Children under 12 years of age are $10 per person and a Family Pass for two adults and three children is $50.00.
