David Ross, who has been editor of the revived version of the Times-Advocate for the past 13 months, will be leaving the paper at the end of September to return to his former position as editor of the Valley Roadrunner newspaper in Valley Center.
Ross edited The Roadrunner for 29 years before leaving it after it two years ago after it was sold to a publishing firm that outsourced much of its production work to China.
Ross said he would be happy to return to the newspaper that he described as “his life’s work” after it was purchased by a local family. “I’ve greatly enjoyed the opportunity publisher Kelly Crews gave me to return to community journalism and wish her the best in her enterprise. She is a tough lady who took a chance to enter into the newspaper business at a time when many are leaving it. I salute her. However, I couldn’t resist returning ‘home.’ ”
