Rincon del Diablo Municipal Water District’s (Rincon Water) Board of Directors accepted a refund check for $50,000 at its last regularly scheduled Board meeting from the District’s insurance provider, the Association of California Water Agencies/Joint Powers Insurance Authority (ACWA/JPIA). The check represents a partial return of prior years’ insurance premiums, resulting from the District’s successful efforts to control and reduce property, liability, and workers’ compensation losses.
“This ACWA/JPIA refund demonstrates how the District’s policies and procedures, coupled with our staff’s commitment, protect our assets while ensuring a safe work environment for our employees,” said Board of Directors President James Murtland. “All of this has resulted in reduced injury and damage claims, and lowers costs passed on to our ratepayers.”
The ACWA/JPIA is a partnership of nearly 300 public water agencies in California. These agencies have pooled their resources to provide property and casualty insurance coverage and claims handling, as well as related training and loss control services.
