Due to the threat of Quagga mussels, there is a ban on private water craft and equipment. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

The park is closed weekdays during the fall.  It will re-open for weekday fishing and recreation beginning December 10. It remains open on the weekends throughout.

Opening Day of Trout Season will be Saturday December 8. They  are stocking 6,000 pounds of Calaveras Rainbow Trout for the event so mark your calendars and plan to come join the folks at the park for what promises to be another great season.

Catfish are being caught throughout the lake. Elliot Berquist of Escondido caught and released a 10.60  pound catfish Saturday using cut mackerel in Oakvale Cove. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver.

Bass can be found around structure and respond well to shad raps, frogs, and dark colored plastics.

Crappie prefer the cover of shade and are most often caught using finger jigs or live golden shiners. They bite best in the predawn hours.

Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
