Rincon del Diablo Municipal Water District (Rincon Water) invites you to a special one-day Rain Barrel Distribution Event on Saturday, February 16, from 9 a.m. to noon at 1920 North Iris Lane, Escondido.
This event is co-hosted by Rincon Water, the Solana Center, the County of San Diego, the Garden, and the San Diego County Water Authority. With a 50-gallon capacity, the rain barrels offered through this event are designed to capture water from a roof and hold it for later use such as on lawns, gardens or indoor plants. “Collecting roof runoff in rain barrels reduces the amount of water that flows from your property. It’s a great way to conserve water and it’s free water for use in your landscape,” said Julia Escamilla, Rincon Water’s Public Information Officer.
Rincon Water customers, as well as customers of other water agencies located in North San Diego County, must pre-order rain barrels online (rainbarrelprogram.org/sandiego) before February 10 in order to participate in the Rain Barrel Distribution Event. Everyone who purchases a rain barrel is eligible for a $35 rebate (limit two rebates per household), bringing the net cost of a rain barrel to $55. Visit SoCalWaterSmart.com for details and to determine your eligibility, as restrictions apply.
For residents in unincorporated areas, San Diego County is offering an additional $30 discount (up to 2 per household) for the first 200 rain barrels sold! For these customers, the net price of a rain barrel is $25.
Rincon del Diablo Municipal Water District is an independent, special district dedicated to providing potable and recycled water to approximately 30,000 people in a 42-square-mile area that includes Escondido, San Marcos, San Diego, and other surrounding unincorporated areas through nearly 8,000 connections.
