Public Notice: EUSD Board Member Vacancy

The Escondido Union School District is seeking applications from registered voters in Region 5 to serve on the Board of Education. An informational meeting for applications will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the district office, 2310 Aldergrove Ave., Escondido 92029.

The board vacancy is the result of Dr. Gary Alternburg’s resignation, effective Dec. 31, 2019. Dr. Altenburg, the trustee representing Region 5, has moved out of the area. The Board of Education will review applications and appoint a trustee to fill the vacancy until the next general election this November. By law, the Board has 60 days to appoint a new trustee.

Interviews of qualified applicants are scheduled to be conducted at a special meeting of the Board of Education at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020, at the Escondido Union School District, 2310 Aldergrove Ave., Escondido 92029.

The application for the board position is now available to download here or by contacting the Superintendent’s Office at 760-432-2400. Applicants must be registered voters living within the boundaries of Region 5 in the Escondido Union School District.

The deadline to submit application materials is 4 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020. The timeline for the appointment process can be viewed here.     Hopefully, we elect someone who has sense and will comply with the Ed. Code and NOT sue the State Of California, Department of Education/Owen. There are better uses of our tax dollars.
