PETA offers reward for person who abandoned dog

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals this week added $5,000 to the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who abandoned a starving Yorkshire-terrier mix in Escondido recently at Mayflower Dog Park. Crime Stoppers had previously offered a $1,000 reward for information.
The small dog, which had to be euthanized, was 7-years old and left in a crate at the park on the morning of March 28, the San Diego Humane Society reported. It was very cold that morning.
Besides being malnourished, the dog was missing fur and had a thick, crusty skin that was obviously very painful. He was taken to the Humane Society’s Escondido Campus, which is a short distance away, where vets cared for him for a week before euthanizing him to relieve his pain and suffering.
The police and Humane Society seek help in this felony animal cruelty investigation. If you have information, call (888) 580-8477.
