Patricia DiAngelis, 81

Patricia DiAngelis was born October 23, 1938 and passed away peacefully on August 9, 2020, from Alzheimer’s.

Mrs. DiAngelis was a long-time resident of Escondido and later Lake Elsinore before returning to Escondido to be closer to her children.  Originally from El Paso, Texas, the oldest of seven children, she was born to Napoleon & Marjorie Lucero.  They moved the family to Hawthorne California where she went to school and graduated from Bishop-Conaty Catholic Girl’s High School in the late 1950’s.

This city girl met a young Italian man, the son of an immigrant mushroom farmer, Dominic DiAngelis, who attended Leuzinger High School in Los Angeles.  The Sisters of Bishop-Conaty forbade their young girls to date boys from Leuzinger high school because they were too rough and wild.  All that went out the window when Patricia met Dominic on a blind date.  Instead of a good night kiss, she shook his hand and said good night.  This made him even more intrigued and determined to learn more about this cute, fun, no nonsense girl.

Dominic and Patricia were married in 1959 and 10 months later started their family.  She is survived by her five children and their families: Ann Marie DiAngelis Quinn (Mark Quinn), Dominic J. DiAngelis, Vincent P. DiAngelis, Louis A. DiAngelis (Trudy) and Anthony J. DiAngelis – six grandchildren; Frank Quinn, Lauren Quinn, Erin DiAngelis Antonov (Andrey), Marissa DiAngelis Thro (Chris), Louis DiAngelis and Olivia DiAngelis – Four great grandchildren; Riah Thro, Hemi Thro, Caia Thro and Nikolai Antonov.

Mrs. DiAngelis was always incredibly involved and held leadership roles in the various Catholic parishes she attended and organizations she supported, including Wounded Warriors, the Cursillo movement and the RCIA program.

With a passion for religious education of both children and adults, she spent many years preparing second graders for their First Communion and later providing training for children and adults converting to Catholicism through The Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) program.    After her children had grown, she joined the workforce using her keen administrative skills for a number of corporations.

She will be remembered for her passion for Christ, love for her family and friends, sense of humor, and her commitment to caring for others.

Mrs. DiAngelis will be laid to rest with her husband of 45 years, Dominic DiAngelis.  She will be missed but never forgotten.

Services will be held outside on Friday, August 21 at The Church of the Resurrection, 1445 Conway Dr., Escondido, CA 92027. The Rosary will be said prior to the Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. and the Mass will begin at 10 a.m.  Mrs. DiAngelis will be interred with her husband, Dominic DiAngelis, at Oak Hill Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following.  Attendance is limited at the cemetery and masks are required at both the church and cemetery.

For additional details, Alhiser-Comer Mortuary on Broadway in Escondido is organizing the arrangements and can be found at or 760-745-2162.

In place of flowers, the family supports the Alzeimer’s Association –
