Panache 2019 Art Auctions celebrates Niki de Saint Phalle

The works of Niki de Saint Phalle will be honored in the Panache 2019 Art Auctions.

More than 40 award-winning local, national and internationally acclaimed artists are donating works for a gala fundraiser supporting the Escondido Arts Partnership Escondido Municipal Gallery that will be auctioned off at the Panache 2019 Art Auctions on Saturday March 23.

The auction also celebrates the work of the late, internationally acclaimed artist Niki de Saint Phalle as well as award winning Southern California artists.  The evening gala includes silent and live art auctions with auctioneer Eric Lehew, a hosted bar with local beer and wine and lavish appetizers .

An original signed serigraph for a film “Who is the Monster You or Me?” by de Saint Phalle will be the cornerstone of the live auction, a generous donation from the Niki Charitable Art Foundation.

Niki de Saint Phalle (1930-2002) is one of the most popular artists of the mid-20th century, both visual artist, painter, sculptor and filmmaker, perhaps best known to the public for her famous “Nanas.” The Niki  de Saint Phalle artwork is among more than 40 donated artworks and services that will be auctioned during the annual fund-raising gala for the Escondido Arts Partnership (EAP) and Escondido Municipal Gallery.

The Escondido Arts Partnership encourages the growth of art-friendly businesses in North County as well as supporting the Niki de Saint Phalle Queen Califia’s Magical Circle garden with docents.  The Escondido Arts Partnership Municipal Gallery provides a destination for visitors in downtown Escondido and is home to over 400 local artists. It offers free ongoing arts education, monthly exhibitions with free entry, and performance space to about 2,000 visitors a month.  Panache 2019 is the most important event on EAP’s busy calendar of exhibits, educational programs and special activities benefiting residents and visitors.  Sponsors include The Niki Charitable Art Foundation, Escondido Sunrise Rotary, Don Manor, Cosmic Solar, Murphy’s Fine Woodworking, Bulldogge & Co. and Stone Brewing Company,

Panache 2019  Artwork can also be previewed in the gallery during the public reception on Saturday March 9 from 5:30-8 p.m. and online on March 12 at www.escondidoarts.org. Admission to the preview is free.

This is all the “charitable” foundation can give? A cheap poster? They spend close to $250,000 a year on their first class travel around the world and equally huge amounts on their salaries and benefits for little work. Foundation is a tax free business for the benefit of the trustees rather then a charity that was to donate Niki’s art to museums and public institutions and give excess income to children’s art programs. Greed on the part of the trustees and betrayal of artist’s wishes. DA of California should investigate.
