Palomar Health CEO Robert Hemker, Escondido Mayor Sam Abed, and Palomar Health Board of Directors Treasurer Jerry Kaufman broke ground April 12 on a three story, 75,000 square foot outpatient center that continues Palomar Health’s commitment to provide high-quality health care to North County residents.
The Palomar Health Outpatient Center – Escondido will be home to the only radiation oncology center in North County (currently operating at the downtown Escondido hospital). This 5,000 square foot center will feature four exam rooms, two state-of-the-art cancer treatment systems, along with a new CT simulator for precise tumor detection.
Other tenants to the building will include a Palomar Health perinatology unit, corporate health office, Expresscare clinic, and pediatric urgent care provided by Rady Children’s Hospital. The center will also contain space for primary care physicians and specialists.
The outpatient center is slated for completion in the spring of 2018 providing a continuum of care for Palomar Health patients in one convenient location. Future phases will include a sister outpatient center, a rehabilitation center, and a parking garage.
The project will create 300 construction-related jobs and $25 million in construction volume.
