Palomar Downtown to be demolished August 6

Palomar Hospital in the early days of its existence as the tallest building in town.

Integral Communities will celebrate the commencement of the demolition of the historic old Palomar Hospital Friday, August 6, 8 a.m – 9:30 a.m.

Although the general public is not being invited to the reception that Integral Communities has invited the media and members from Escondido’s business community, the public will be able to watch from across the street or other vantage points nearby.

There won’t be one of those cool and dramatic implosions, however, just the beginning of a demolition that will take a while.

Nevertheless, this will mark the first milestone of the new Palomar Heights community, an urban lifestyle community situated at the eastern gateway of Escondido’s historic downtown in the location of the Old Palomar Health Hospital. The new development will feature 510 apartments and townhomes, a retail farmer’s market, restaurants, and collaborative work spaces, bringing new residents and vibrancy to downtown Escondido. The project will revitalize the former downtown health campus and transform it into a thriving commercial and residential city hub.

Money sure has a way of compromising peoples integrity. After all this time this is what we are allowing to be built in our city. Another 700 or more cars on our roads. Our infrastructure and this city is not built to take all of the extra people that have found there way here let another 700 vehicles. Drive on valley pkwy anytime lately that is exactly what all of the roads are gong to be like everything is being destroyed very hard to watch. Anyways R.I.P PALOMAR HOSPITAL.
