KPBS presents Rebecca Makkai, author of “The Great Believers,” the 2019 One Book, One San Diego. “The Great Believers” is a historical novel about the terrors and tragedies of the AIDS epidemic and its repercussions, through a story about friendship and redemption the face of tragedy and loss, set in 1980s Chicago and contemporary Paris.
