Since the San Diego County Fair is back for another fun filled month, I thought I would make some easy Fair inspired eats for your tummy plea­sure. The smell of fried food, chili and fun, fill the air and really make calories not count.

I like to make Chili not only in the colder months (because let’s

 

 

be hon­est, is it ever really cold in southern California?) but I like changing it up by adding some ingredients. Here is the base recipe for my easy Chili and two other ways to serve it up for your guests fair style!

CHILI

1 lb ground turkey browned in olive oil and salt/pepper
1 – 8

 

 

oz can chili beans
2 – 8 oz cans red kidney beans
2 – 8 oz cans red beans
2 – 8 oz cans red pinto beans
1 – 8 oz can corn
1 – 8 oz can tomato sauce
1 – 8 oz can stewed tomatoes
2 packages chili seasoning
3 garlic cloves diced

Drain all the liquid from the cans of beans and

 

 

place in crockpot with all of the above ingredients. Cook on low for four to 6 hours.

Serves 4

Here comes the change up! Bake up some potatoes or some French fries. Serve Chili on top of baked potato or French fries with some sour cream, shredded cheese and green onions for a delicious variation that adults and kids will love!
