Offer your family a holiday experience at the Center

If your holiday shopping list is looking a little overwhelming, think outside the gift box by giving the gift of a holiday experience you can share with your friends and family.  The California Center for the Arts, Escondido has several special events sure to put you in the holiday spirit this season!

Mark your calendars for the 14th Annual Winter Wonderland Festival at the Center as the Center’s team of elves transforms the campus into the North Pole complete with real snow, live reindeer, Saint Nick and more! Food and drink will be available to warm your hands and hearts, and a number of local businesses will be displaying their wares. Festivities kick off at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 1 for this free event sponsored by the Linden Root Dickinson Foundation and George and Cynthia Weir, The Weir Asphalt Construction Group.

International singing sensation the TEN Tenors stop in at the Center Concert Hall on Friday, November 30 at 7:30 p.m.  Australia’s “rock stars of opera” are a delight to audiences of all ages, performing traditional and contemporary holiday favorites.  Their Home for the Holidays show will have you singing along to soaring versions of “Joy to World,” “Sleigh Ride,” “White Christmas,” and many more.  Tickets start at $35.

An annual Center tradition, Carols by Candlelight transports viewers to a winter wonderland complete with glittering Christmas trees, hundreds of poinsettia and even falling snow while country and pop music stars sing their hits as well as holiday favorites.  This year’s headliners include Grammy-nominated stars Hunter Hayes and Jamie O’Neal along with Grammy winner and founder of Carols by Candlelight Steve Vaus and his daughter songwriter and performer, Anna Vaus.  The show takes place in the Concert Hall at 8:00 p.m. on December 7 and 8. Proceeds benefit Rady Children’s Hospital and tickets start at $19.

Your toes will go home tired from tapping along to Irish Christmas in America.  This energetic performance includes fiddle, flute, uilleann pipes and harp along with traditional Irish dancing. Tickets start at $40 and are selling fast for this one-night-only performance in the Center Theater on Wednesday, December 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Another family tradition at the Center is the West Coast Ballet Theater’s production of The Nutcracker. Over 200 performers take the stage to bring Tchaikovsky’s ballet to life as seen through the eyes of a child.  The Concert Hall is transformed with stunning sets and dazzling costumes amidst live music by the San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra. Tickets start at $21.50 for matinee performances on December 22 and 23.  Discounts are available by contacting our ticket office directly for seniors over 60, military, students and children 12 and under.
