New Vintage Church, located at 1300 S. Juniper St. in Escondido will celebrate its fifth (5th) Anniversary on April 24. New Vintage Church (NVC) gathered informally for the first time in December 2010 with a vision to start a new church that would draw people to God, leading them to maturity in Christ. When those 16 people gathered for the first time, they could never have imagined how vividly and powerfully God was about to move. New Vintage Church launched formally in April of 2011.
“While the challenges of starting a new church have been significant, God has helped us overcome those challenges to become a thriving church of hundreds of worshipers united by a common vision and mission,” said a spokesman for the church. “The church is characterized by spiritual vitality drawn from a shared, joyful pursuit of God’s heart and mission.”
The spokesman added, “New Vintage gets its name from an important biblical truth. Using vineyard imagery, Jesus proclaims Himself (the Vine) as the source of all nourishment for His followers (the branches). Apart from Him, we can do nothing. In Him, we can do great things. We believe this and strive to cultivate deep spiritual lives that place nothing above whole-person love of God. We strive to stay firmly attached to Jesus, ‘the Vine’ (John 15:5-8).”
The Core Purposes of the church are Worship (growing in knowledge and service), Mission (being witnesses to those within their sphere of influence) and Community (using God given gifts to build up the church). The church’s Values include Scripture, Praise, Prayer, Leadership, Joy, Generosity and Health.

The Escondido site has been where non-denominational Christian worship has occurred since 1888. Although the name has changed a couple of times over the years, there have been groups of Christian believers who have worshiped together at that spot for well over 100 years.
The spokesman concluded, “Now, it is New Vintage Church that celebrates its 5-year Anniversary. We invite anyone and everyone to come and check us out! The anniversary celebration would be a great time to come and meet us. The church is headed by Dr. Tim Spivey (he prefers to be called Tim), lead pastor. He is assisted by Rudy Haygood, discipleship pastor; Peter Wilson, worship & communication pastor; D.J. Iverson, Youth & Family Pastor; and Celyn Miles, children’s Pastor. We welcome all and would encourage you to come and visit us. Services are 9 a.m. and to 10:30 a.m. every Sunday morning with a time of social interaction with complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. This fellowship is a loving, caring, and up building spiritual group. We truly do have something for all ages. Our 5-year celebration would be a good time to come and join us for the day.”
