Thursday morning New Urban West began demolishing what remains of the old Escondido Country Club, which partially burnt down last November.
Last fall the city council approved New Urban West’s proposal for a development with three residential villages, a $10 million clubhouse and large swath of open space.
NUWI has not yet taken possession of the property, but began demolition at the permission of the current owner.
“While we have yet to take ownership of the property, we want to help the community move beyond what has been a very unfortunate chapter,” said NUWI Project Manager Jonathan Frankel. “Getting rid of this eyesore will help do just that.”
