New hydration stations installed at six locations

The City of Escondido’s Community Services Department and the Environmental Programs team partnered up to encourage water conservation and installed six new hydration stations throughout the City at local parks and community centers.

• Jesmond Dene Park

• Kit Carson Sports Center

• Kit Carson Softball Fields

• Park Avenue Community Center

• Washington Park

• East Valley Community Center

The City is committed to reducing single-use plastics. The hydration stations facilitate easy refilling of reusable bottles during on-the-go activities instead of using purchased bottled water. Each station features a quick-fill mechanism to encourage reusable water bottle use alongside a regular water fountain spout.

The hydration station project received $25,000 in grant funding from the San Diego County Water Authority and Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to cover the purchase of the stations and educational signage.
