Neighborhood Healthcare, a regional Federally Qualified Health Center providing a wide range of medical, dental and behavioral health services, February 27 conducted a free kids dental clinic at its Date Street location. More than 45 kids 18-years-old and under received care under ADA Foundation initiative
The initiative, part of the American Dental Association’s “Give Kids A Smile Program,” provided more than 45 children 18-years-old and under with free care as well as food, books, gift cards, and other items.
“We’re proud to partake in this initiative to ensure kids and family receive quality, compassionate, whole-person care, regardless of circumstance,” said Joseph Jordan, DDS, dental director for Neighborhood Healthcare. “Healthier kids do better in school and life. Holding this free event together with our valued partners helps make the communities that we’re honored to serve better.”
The dental services conducted at the clinic included dental sealants, fluoride varnish, and the standard oral health assessment screening required for all children entering Kindergarten.
Several organizations supported Neighborhood Healthcare’s free dental clinic, including Thirvent, Jason D. Reesor Dental Group, the San Diego County Dental Association, County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency and UC San Diego School of Medicine.
