Many doughnut lovers out there probably dont even know it exists, but Savoy Doughnuts has been in the same location about twenty years.
They are located in West Escondido, behind 7-Eleven and Pieology and across Auto Parkway from Bevmo. The address is 1340 W. Valley Pkwy.
Dan and Cindy have owned and operated Savoy since 2006, and you wont find a nicer or more handsome couple. They have the best doughnuts in town and the best chocolate icing. Most doughnut shops these days have chocolate icing that looks more like maple than chocolate. Not at Savoy.
And if you are lucky, you may find chocolate covered cinnamon rolls and bear claws. They have also started making maple and chocolate bars with bacon strips on top.
Savoy Doughnuts is open weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to noon and on Saturdays from 6 a.m. to noon. They are closed on Sundays and holidays. A plain cake donut costs $1.00, and fancier items go up from there. Bring cash, since they dont have a card reader.
You can no longer say you never heard of them.(And you should probably get there before 9:00 a.m. – they often are sold out by then.
