Municipal Gallery will have busy July


An artist’s rendering of the front of the Municipal Gallery.

In July at the Escondido Arts Partnership Municipal Gallery the exhibition Novel Ideas: Books, Print & Pulp will celebrate words using paper, print, ink, paint, multi-media and of course, book art. 

Rivers of Gold, a solo exhibition of works by Duke Windsor will be in the Expressions Galleries. 

The Photo Arts Group will present Doors, Windows and Signage in the InnerSpace Gallery. 

July is the gallery’s membership drive month.  Stop by to visit with staff to discuss becoming a member.  

Artists receptions will be held during Second Saturday Artwalk on July 14, 5:30 – 8 p.m.

 WORKSHOPS 

 Drawing 101 Workshops are designed to teach the fundamentals of drawing to non-artists, painters, sculptors, and designers. By the end of this course students will have completed a wide range of exercises, study sketches, and will have finished works of art ready for framing.

Duke Windsor’s Summer Workshops Include “Fun with Abstract Drawing with Pastels” Saturday July 21 – 2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. and “Drawing 101– Creating the Portrait from scratch” on Saturday July 28 – 11:30 a.m.- 2 p.m.

You will learn skills and techniques in the elements of tools selection, The history and use of drawing materials, How to create drawings from life, reference materials, and from creative thought. This drawing workshop is for students 15 and older.

Introduction to Monotype Printmaking

with Artist / Printmaker Julianne Ricksecker

Saturday July 7, 12:30 – 3:30  p.m.

A monotype is unique, a one-of-a-kind print, developed on a plate and transferred onto paper. This is your opportunity to learn how to make a “painterly print” without the use of a press. The class will discuss a variety approaches to this technique and create at least one monotype in the class. Materials will be provided. You are encouraged to bring sketches or other inspiration, as well as materials that might produce interesting textures or patterns, such as lace, child’s blocks, leaves, etc. If you have them, tools you could bring are: a wooden spoon or wooden spatula, brushes suitable for use with oil paint, pencils, water soluble oil paint, and a palette.
