Motorcycle vs. car collision sends one to hospital

On Wednesday, November 16, at about 10:02 p.m. officers from the Escondido Police Department were dispatched along with the Escondido Fire Department to the area of Centre City Parkway north of Brotherton Road regarding a serious injury collision.

Officers arrived minutes later and located two involved vehicles on Centre City Parkway at the S. Escondido Boulevard connector.

Based on witness statements and physical evidence at the scene it appears a man, 29, was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Centre City Parkway. A 20-year-old female driver in a black Subaru crossed the north bound lanes of Centre City Parkway from the S. Escondido Boulevard connector and a collision occurred.

The motorcyclist was transported to the Palomar Medical Center by Escondido Fire paramedics. He suffered a broken right femur, broken ribs, and a broken collar bone. The female driver of the other vehicle was not injured. Alcohol or drugs impairment was not a factor in this collision.

During the investigation a passing motorist drove over the flare pattern into the collision scene. Officers stopped the driver and noticed signs and symptoms consistent with alcohol intoxication. The male driver was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The traffic investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Officer Tom Venable of the Traffic Division. Anyone with additional information about the collision is encouraged to call Officer Venable at the above phone number.
