New taco shop on Washington Avenue
Mariscos Germán, a popular food truck in San Diego County, has also opened a small restaurant in Escondido at 251 W Washington Ave. If you look on Yelp you’ll already see quite a few positive reviews for the new establishment. Many of the comments mention the taco shop’s fish tacos. The editor of this publication plans to stop by soon!

New executive director
Life Care Center of Escondido, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, recently welcomed Christina Spence as its new executive director.
“Christina is a very caring, passionate, and dynamic leader who is dedicated to improving patient care and achieving positive results,” said Sam Magtanong, vice president of parent company Life Care Centers of America’s facilities in California. “She is committed to achieving the Life Care vision and mission and is a wonderful addition to the leadership team at Escondido.”
Spence comes to Life Care from a multi-level retirement community in Carlsbad, where she served as executive director. Prior to that appointment, she served as associate administrator for Life Care Services in San Diego. She has more than 10 years of health care experience.
Originally from North Carolina, Spence earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy analysis with a concentration on health policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a master’s degree in leadership of health care organizations from the University of California in San Diego.
“I enjoy working with seniors because they have so much wisdom and experience to share,” said Spence. “I consider it a privilege that I get to makea difference, not only for the patients but also their families and the staff of our community.”

Health lecture moves
Due to a scheduling conflict, Carolyn Gross did not be speak at the Grand Tea Room last Saturday as had been advertised previously. The lecture has moved to Gross’s Escondido office — although it will still be catered by the Grand Tea Room.
The new date, time and location are as follows: Carolyn Gross, Author, will present “Your Health Is Your Wealth” on Saturday, August 20, 3 – 5 p.m. at Creative Life Solution, 1081 Borden Rd., Suite 105 Escondido, CA.
The Grand Tea Room will still be serving tea and goodies and Gross will be speaking and signing her books. You are invited to join the group for tea, inspiration, networking and health resources.
