San Diego’s KAABOO is not only known for music and comedy. It features a great deal of talented culinary artists from around the country competing to wow the masses with original cuisines along side local brewers and distillers that create unique flavors that make San Diego county a major hub for tantalizing tourism. Among these talents was featured Escondido’s very own Mercado de Mezcal.

The company was invited directly by the event to host its very own lounge space in the Palate arena from Sept 16 – 18. The lounge featured five different booths of artisanal agave mezcals that are 100% hand crafted and produced in small farms from different regions throughout Mexico.

our own little gallery at KAABOO,” said Tory Matthew Smith, of Mercado de Mezcal. “They asked me to curate the mezcal exhibit here. We’re the exclusive lounge. Rancho Valencia set up our decor to give it a really nice ambiance. I curated the mezcals and worked with the brands to be here in their own bars and represent the cocktails or offering them straight. It’s really exciting.”

KAABOO managed the retail sales of the merchandise for the event.

“This is, by far, one of the coolest spirits opportunities for guests here because they could come to try a variety of mezcals that are all made in very small batches. They are hard to get. We sell them

From smoky wood flavors, smoky sweet corn, or smooth simple notes that offer compliments of fruity notes that combine well with any creative endeavor, to aged perfection emerges the palette with key characteristics true to the specific region of origin. Each mezcal is crafted specifically to the taste of its creators in small batches that are original in design and taste.
