As part of my effort to celebrate small business in our region, this month I would like to salute Citracado Dental Group in Escondido.
Having just celebrated their 35th anniversary in practice, husband and wife dentists William Jungman and Julie Kangas lead the team in providing a wide range of dental treatments and services to their expanding pool of patients.
Services range from cosmetic dentistry, implants, dentures, preventive dentistry and periodontal therapy to treatments for teeth whitening and sleep apnea. The staff at Citracado Dental Group thinks of itself as family. Many have been employed for decades including one member for 31 years.
Doctors Jungman and Kangas have become deeply involved in voluntary efforts ranging far beyond the needs of their patients. Dr. Jungman serves as a UCSD volunteer faculty member, has spent time as a volunteer dentist aboard the Navy Hospital ship Mercy providing humanitarian aid in the South Pacific and Vietnam. He is also active as a volunteer and board member with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego. His commitment to the Boy Scouts of America has led to service as board member for the San Diego Imperial Council and as a Senior Assistant Scout Master. Inspiring others through his professional and personal achievements, Dr. Jungman has brought distinction to himself and was recently the recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Citizens Award and Jack Raymond Civic Engagement Award.
Dr. Kangas serves as president of the Escondido Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). In 2008 ABWA national headquarters selected Dr. Kangas as Business Woman of the Year. Julie and William are also the first husband-wife dentists inducted into the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration. Julie is active in her church, in raising her four boys and remains deeply involved in a number of local charitable and community organizations.
Balancing a thriving business with raising a family can be a nearly impossible task. William and Julie have combined those commitments with their strong sense of community and their desire to use their time and skills to help make this a better world. Together, William and Julie have made a significant difference in the community of Escondido and built a legacy worthy of public recognition. I am proud to designate Citracado Dental Group my Business of the Month for June, 2015.
