“MAGEC In The Park” will be a kids art sculpture competition

Free, as part of the California Center for the Arts Escondido’s 25th anniversary celebration, MAGEC will be holding a family-friendly youth art sculpture competition for kids to showcase Escondido’s arts and culture.

“MAGEC in the Park” is seeking kids to form teams in any combination of 3-5 students in grades 1 through 12 to complete a sculpture using the materials that are provided to each of the teams, with the theme of the project being “Birthday Celebration.”  Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams and after the event, team sculptures will be on exhibit at the California Center for the Arts Museum.

The event is scheduled for Friday, June 7, from 5–7 p.m., but students and their families can stay for the Patio Playhouse – Plays in the Park Preview Show and the free concert that will take place afterward.  Picnic area, food trucks, drawings with great prizes, face painting, and  interactive activities will also be part of this free family event.

Registration deadline is May 31.  Register now!  A limited number of teams will be accepted.  Form your team and register your team name by going to eventbrite.com and search “MAGEC in the Park.”   Individual kids may register to be placed on a team formed by staff.  All contestants will receive two tickets to their choice of one of this summer’s Patio Plays in the Park, plus two tickets to one of the CCAE’s summer concerts, and one guest pass to the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum.
