Local speaker MC’s Piano Palooza

Escondido resident Edna Nerona.

Escondido resident and speaker, Edna Nerona was Master of Ceremonies for an all- day Piano Palooza event organized by Amateur Pianists (www.meetup.com/APSanDiego/.)
Held on April 28, 2018 at Qualcomm Lecture Hall in Sorrento Valley, the special event offered master classes and lectures on practice, performance, the history of classical music, and a member recital. This year the program featured Siu Hei Lee (pianist and PhD candidate at UC, San Diego); Dr. Violeta Petrova (music professor, concert pianist and scholar); and Glenn Kramer, accomplished pianist and founder of Amateur Pianists.
“Edna did a wonderful job bringing her positive energy, enthusiasm, and tastefulness to the audience,” said Kramer. “Edna announced each pianist and incorporated their bios before introducing them to the piano. I enjoyed the way she connected to the audience. She’s a wonderful public speaker and added humor and professionalism to the event, helping each pianist to feel more relaxed before going on stage to perform.”
Lulu Hsu, Chair of Amateur Pianists, added, “Edna’s crowd warming tactics are lovely. She has great vocal projection and such clear articulation!”
“Serving master of ceremonies is such a fulfilling experience because it’s more than facilitating a program, “ Nerona said, “it’s about bringing and maintaining positive energy between the organizers, the audience, and the performers.”
And as a pianist, Nerona also took part in the afternoon recital performing Măruntel by Béla Bartók. For more information about Edna Nerona, visit www.EdnaSpeaks.com.
