An Escondido man was arrested Thursday for hit and run after he allegedly struck two women on the sidewalk with his vehicle and then ran away. According to Escondido Police the man, Joshua Michael Villavicencio, was under the influence.
According to police Villavicencio, who was driving a silver Cadillac CTS, was turning from Escondido Boulevard onto Lincoln Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. One female victim was in her 40s and the other was in her 70s. Both were taken by helicopter to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Police said Villavicencio tried to run away on foot but was apprehended two blocks away and arrested and later booked by the Escondido Police Department.
The cause of the collision is under investigation. Alcohol is believed to a factor. Any witnesses to the collision are asked to call Officer Steve Braucht of the Traffic Division at (760) 839- 4482.
