Literature Comes to Life at the library

Escondido Public Library will host Literature Comes to Life, an interactive theatrical experience, for children ages 5-12 years on Thursday, September 14, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Turrentine Room.

Through acting and storytelling, Leo Lionni’s beloved, Caldecott-Medal-winning story about a clever little fish, “Swimmy,” will come to life.

Literature Comes to Life’s Director, Stacey Wein, is excited to “provide children with an opportunity to participate in popular stories, become characters, and increase confidence in their speaking abilities.” Escondido’s Children’s Librarian Kristine Macalalad adds, “Stacey combines her background in education and enthusiasm for theater to introduce children to classic books from a new and refreshing perspective.”

For more information on other Library programs for children, visit the Library’s website at or contact Children’s Librarian Kristine Macalalad, at 760-839-5458 or Library programs are free, open to the public, and sponsored by the Friends of the Escondido Public Library.  Escondido Public Library is located at 239 S. Kalmia St., Escondido.
