Library card provides discounts at local businesses

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. To celebrate, Escondido Public Library is promoting the advantages of owning a free Library card by launching Read Local, Shop Local!, a discount program that provides exclusive offers to customers who present their library card at participating businesses in Escondido. The program is a partnership with Visit Escondido!, Escondido’s visitors center, and runs from September 5, 2017 to August 31, 2018.

Escondido Public Library card holders can show their cards at the following local businesses to receive these exclusive discounts:

• ArtHatch Escape (Escape room) – 10% off

• Baltimore Snowball (Shaved ice) – $2 off any small or regular combo

• Burger Bench (Restaurant) – 10% off total order

• Cindy’s Nails (Nail salon) – 10% off total bill

• Clue Avenue (Escape room) – 40% discount for teams of 3 to 8 (online booking only)

• Cute Cakes (Cupcake bakery) – 10% off total bill

• EcoVivarium (Specialty school) – One free child ticket with paid adult admission

• The Grand Tea Room (Tea room) – 10% off dining and gift shop

• Kettle Coffee & Tea (Café) – 20% off total order

• Patio Playhouse (Live theater) – Two complimentary items from concessions stand ($4 value)

Library cards are free and can be obtained by filling out an application at Escondido Public Library. As an additional motivation to sign up for a card in September, new card holders will receive the following perks, starting Tuesday, September 5, 2017:

First 650 new Library card holders receive a $2 coupon to Jimbo’s Naturally! and will be entered into a drawing for $25 gift cards from Jimbo’s.
